Beyond FastPasses - Plan Your Entertainment Schedule!
One thing many people over look is scheduling the live entertainment at the parks. There are so many different types of live entertainment it can be tough to know what you need to plan for and what you can just happen upon. In this article I will highlight the entertainment I would recommend seeing and give you tips for how to plan for them.
Stage Shows
First, I typically do not use FastPasses for the stage shows but I do plan them into my day. They have large theaters and rarely do they fill completely up. And in most of the theaters there is not a bad seat in the house. The stage shows I would recommend catching while you are in the park are below.
Disney Hollywood Studios
Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage
For the First Time in Forever - Frozen Sing -a-long
Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular
Disney's Animal Kingdom
Festival of the Lion King
Finding Nemo the Musical
Fireworks/Nighttime Shows
Unlike Stage Shows, finding a spot for viewing the nighttime shows takes a bit more thought. Disney now projects images onto the buildings at Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios so finding a spot where you can see the castle or the Chinese Theater is important. Also to ensure that you have a good place I would recommend grabbing a treat an hour or more before the start time and then camping out if you want a premium viewing area. Otherwise send one member of your party to scout a place and save it while the rest of the family enjoys a couple more attractions. I typically use a stroller, sweaters, towels or a blanket to save places for our family. The nighttime shows I would recommend are
Magic Kingdom
Happily Ever After - Fireworks
Epcot
Illuminations: Reflections of Earth
Disney Hollywood Studios
Star Wars Galactic Spectacular
Parades
Parades are similar to the nighttime shows, you need to show up early to find a spot. My tip here is to find out where the parade starts and find a place close to there. This will cut down on your wait time for the parade and get you back to enjoying the park quicker.
I’m not a huge parade lover, but the Magic Kingdom has one not to be missed. It’s call the
Festival of Fantasy Parade. And it’s fantastic!
Other Live Entertainment
There are many, many more great entertainment options from the Dapper Dan’s on Main Street USA in the Magic Kingdom to the Jeweled Dragon Acrobats in the China pavilion in Epcot. You can find showtimes for these under Entertainment in your My Disney Experience app. Much of the live entertainment in the parks can seen at various times throughout the day. My recommendation is to look at what is in each park and find the things you want to see and as you are in the their areas see when the next show is. For example, if you know you want to see the Voices of Liberty at the American pavilion at Epcot, when you are getting close to the American pavilion look at when the next showtime is and plan accordingly.
